This is a simple, lightly spicy recipe that is full of flavor and is a perfect one pot meal. Its preparation takes just 10 minutes. Fresh peas are the best choice for this dish. Having this recipe with buttermilk is good for people with acidity (aggravated ‘Pitta’).
Equipment and Utensils
200 grams (1 cup) Long Grain Rice
100 grams (½ cup) Fresh Green Peas
1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
½ teaspoon Biryani/Pulav Masala Powder
¼ teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Pure Ghee
2 cups of Water
Wash the rice thoroughly; drain and keep it aside.
Put ghee in a cooker and keep it on medium-high flame.
Crackle cumin seeds.
Now add rice and sauté for 1 minute.
Add fresh peas and water.
Add salt, pulav masala and garam masala powders.
Close the lid and make the flame high.
After 1 whistle, lower the flame.
Keep on lowest flame exactly for 7 minutes.
Turn off the heat after 7 minutes and let the pressure subside on its own.
Now open the pressure cooker and the pulav is ready.
Serve hot with buttermilk, curd, pickle or papad.
