This is a quick breakfast dish. It can me made with various vegetables and spices. Here we are using cabbage and carom seeds. Cabbage is a good source of riboflavin. Cabbage contains magnesium, calcium, iron and sulfur and this causes flatulence (gas). To avoid this, we are using some carom seeds.
Equipment and Utensils
Flat griddle pan
Flat stainless steel / wooden spoon
Indian rolling board
Indian rolling pin
Large mixing bowl
200 grams (2 cups) Wheat Flour
100 grams (½ cup) Red Cabbage shredded
50 grams (¼ cup) Coriander finely chopped
2 Green chilies finely chopped
1 teaspoon Carom Seeds (Owa)
½ teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Pure Ghee / Butter
1 cup Water
Mix all dry ingredients (1 to 6 in the list) in a large mixing bowl.
Now start adding water and knead the dough.
Make 9 equal balls from the kneaded dough.
Heat the flat griddle pan on a low flame.
Meanwhile, roll out one ball into a paratha of ¼ cm thickness.
Now put this paratha for baking on griddle.
Bake both sides of the paratha for 30 seconds each.
Then apply some ghee or butter to both sides.
Again bake both sides till they are golden brown.
Make the remaining 8 parathas in the same way.
Serve hot with some raita.
