I don’t get sound sleep if my cardamom powder stock gets over. Really! You won’t believe it but this actually happened some days back. I usually get this powder once in every 3 months from my mother. Somehow this time I forgot to tell her that the powder is over.
It is easy to make this powder at home and it is very useful in making curries, sweets and most importantly, Cardamom Tea. Yes, I have Cardamom Tea every morning. So you see, if this powder gets over I don’t like to have tea in the morning and without tea the whole day turns into suffering. 🙁
This time I have decided to make it at home. I bought one packet of cardamoms.
To prepare this powder, you will need to clean the mixer jar and make sure that jar is completely dry on the inside.
This powder can be stored at room temperature for 4-5 months but good care needs to be taken to avoid moisture getting into this powder.
Equipment and Utensils
Mixer or Blender
Frying pan
Flat wooden spoon
Ingredients
100 grams Green Cardamom Pods
30 grams Granulated Sugar
Directions
Put all cardamom pods in a frying pan and keep the pan on medium heat.
Dry roast them for 5 to 6 minutes. Stir well after every 1-2 minutes.
Cool them properly by spreading them on a paper.
After cooling start grinding them in batches.
Add 1 to 2 tablespoon of sugar in each batch.
Sugar will help to grind these roasted pods to form smooth powder.
Store the powder in an air tight container.
