Paneer Mutter Masala
Delicious and tasty, Mutter Paneer is a north Indian dish consisting of Indian Cottage Cheese (Paneer) and Peas (Mutter) cooked in a slightly sweet and spicy sauce. This North Indian curry is probably the most frequently ordered dish in Indian restaurants. A sure crowd pleaser!
Equipment and Utensils
Flat metal spoon
150 grams (1 cup) Fresh Green Peas (Mutter) boiled
100 grams (½ cup) Indian Cottage Cheese (Paneer) cut into 1 cm cubes
100 grams (2 medium) Onions finely chopped
170 grams (3 medium) Tomato finely chopped
Small bunch of Fresh Coriander
2 tablespoons Boiled Cashew Paste
1 tablespoon Ginger-Garlic finely chopped
1 teaspoon Red Chili Paste
1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
½ teaspoon Roasted Cumin Powder
1 teaspoon Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder
¼ teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
¼ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
1 teaspoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Salt
2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
Put oil in the wok and keep it on medium flame.
When oil is hot, add cumin seeds.
Crackle cumin seeds and add onions.
Fry onions till they turn brown. It will take 6-7 minutes.
Now add ginger-garlic.
Fry for 1-2 minutes till the raw flavor of garlic is gone.
Add tomatoes and fry for 3-4 minutes until a nice gravy is formed.
Now add all dry spices (turmeric, red chili, coriander and cumin powder).
Also add red chili paste. Add 2 cups of water and let the gravy come to boil.
When it is boiling, add panner and boiled peas.
Season well with salt.
Lower the flame and let gravy simmer for 5-6 minutes.
Now add cashew paste.
Stir gently for 1-2 minutes, till oil is separated from the gravy.
Serve hot with roti, naan or paratha.
