The world of Italian sandwiches consists of heavenly bread-based creations like Panini, Brochette and Crostini. Italians include these recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, party foods, and delicious desserts. In other words, perfect indulgences for any time of the day.
To make Panini sandwiches, the loaf is cut horizontally and filled with pesto, salami, ham, cheese or other food and served warm after having been pressed by a warming grill. Pesto traditionally consists of crushed garlic, basil, and European pine nuts blended with olive oil.
Here is the Indian version of the Panini sandwich. Pesto is replaced by green coriander chutney. Non-vegetarian ingredients are replaced by potato-corn fillings. Cheese is indeed needed. Ingredients
1 Bread Loaf cut horizontally into 10 slices
250 grams (1 cup) Potatoes boiled and mashed
100 grams (¼ cup) Corns boiled
150 grams (½ cup) Cheese grated
1 tablespoon Coriander finely chopped
½ tablespoon Dried Oregano
½ tablespoon Chili Flakes
1 tablespoon Butter
Chutney:
150 grams Fresh Coriander
3-4 Green Chilies
½ teaspoon Salt
Juice of 1 lemon
Directions
Put all ingredients mentioned for chutney into blender.
Add 1 tablespoon water into the blender.
Blend it to a fine paste. Your chutney is ready.
Put boiled potatoes and corn into one bowl.
Sprinkle some salt, oregano and chili flakes in the bowl.
Add chopped coriander and mix well.
Grate the cheese and keep it in a separate bowl.
To make the sandwich, take one slice and apply 1/2 tablespoon of chutney on it.
Now add potato mixture and spread it out evenly.
Next add grated cheese on top and cover the sandwich with another slice of bread.
Apply some butter on top of the upper slice and keep the sandwich in a hot grill.
Serve hot with tomato sauce or chutney.
Note (if you don’t have a sandwich griller)
Don’t cover the sandwich with the upper slice.
Sprinkle some oregano and chili flakes on top of the applied cheese
Heat it in the oven for 5-6 minutes at 180oc.
You will get open face sandwiches.
