Prawns In Coconut Gravy

November 21, 2013 By Dipti Leave a Comment

Prawns with spicy gravy

Whenever I buy these big white prawns, I make this mouthwatering gravy. This gravy is a Konkan specialty which is prepared in my village. The people there still prefer to grind coconut along with other spices on a big grinding stone. They feel that using a grinding stone imparts a special flavor to the gravy. They first keep onions on hot charcoals while making their daily flat bread and rice and then they use these charred onions to make this gravy.

I have used brown onion paste along with fresh coconut. This is a mild gravy but if you want to make it spicy then you can increase the amount of chili and masala powders.
